  test your easle
practice the set up before you leave - get to know your materials.

  Narni
yep from the tales of Narni movie

  note to self
Always pack toilet paper on these day trips. Bathrooms in these small medeival towns are few and far between. Often the woods is a far better option than a hole in the floor with 2 foot pedals.

  Spoleto
20 minute walk straight uphill - next time skip the easle. Great frescoes in the basilica, a definate highlight. Next time plat to bring a sketchbook, camera, and tour the town.

  La Romita
We arrive in the rain. A good day to unpack and get set up in the studio.

  Rome
I started my trip here and suggest you do too. There is much to see and do in Rome. Additionally you'll want a day or two to adjust to the time change before we take off.

  where to begin
I left April 13th and just returned last week. I hope to post my sketchbooks from the last few weeks. I traveled through Rome, several cities in umbria, Sorrento, Pompei, Amalphi, Positano, and Ravello. Link to la romita.

Name:

I'm a spirited artist and instructor with lots of energy. Currently I'm developing paintings, prints, books and collages that are inspired and developed in my sketchbooks. This fall I'll be offering a sketchbook development course at the Corcoran, and a workshop in Portland, Oregon in hopes to pass along what I've learned through working in mine.
